Our story

In 1999 CB Heating was established by Clayton Browne, an apprentice-trained plumber by trade.

Over 20 years ago, Clayton saw a future in renewable energy whilst working with Thermal Solar Energy systems.. As new technologies developed and emerged on to the market, he was keen to explore and embrace them.

He installed his first air source heat pump with an underfloor heating system on a beautiful barn conversion back in the 2000. Since then, we have installed thousands more across the UK.

We were acquired by EDF, the UK’s largest generator of zero-carbon electricity in 2024. Being part of the EDF team gives us the opportunity to take heat pump installations to another level and bring more heat pumps to UK customers.

Today we have a large head office building in Clacton-on-Sea. You are welcome to come and visit our showroom to see, hear, and feel how a heat pump works. We’ll give you a tour of our facilities so you can meet our team. That same team will look after you throughout the process from start to finish.

Our HPIN Training Academy, the only one of its kind in the UK is dedicated to training the next generation of heat pump installers. Come and visit us and we’ll show you just what goes into a high-quality, highly efficient heat pump installation.

What’s more, we are a Which? Trusted Trader rated ‘Excellent on Trustpilot.

*** Zero standing charges for 12 months. Unlock £360 in savings with EDF Energy’s Heat Pump & Save Tracker tariff. https://www.edfenergy.com/heating/electric/air-source-heat-pump £164 of savings are based on a customer using Ofgem’s typical domestic consumption of 2700 kWh electricity and with heating provided by an air source heat pump with a coefficient of performance (CoP) of 3.1 providing equivalent heat to that from a 94% gas boiler using 11,500 kWh of gas. A further £196 of savings based on 0p per day electricity standing charge based on the Q2 Ofgem price cap using a regional average. Total saving of £164 + £196 = £360.
